Abstrak

Pendahuluan: Gingivitis merupakan tahap awal penyakit periodontal yang disebabkan oleh akumulasi plak dan ditandai dengan inflamasi gingiva, dengan interleukin‑1β (IL‑1β) saliva berperan sebagai biomarker inflamasi kunci. Namun, studi yang secara spesifik mengkaji hubungan antara status kebersihan mulut dan kadar IL‑1β saliva pada remaja dengan gingivitis masih terbatas di populasi Indonesia. Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan profil Oral Hygiene Index–Simplified (OHI‑S) dan kadar IL‑1β saliva, serta menganalisis hubungan keduanya pada pasien gingivitis remaja. Metode: Studi potong lintang dilakukan pada 36 pasien gingivitis usia 15–18 tahun di Kota Padang yang dipilih secara purposive. Status kebersihan mulut dinilai menggunakan OHI‑S, sedangkan kadar IL‑1β saliva diukur dari saliva tidak terstimulasi dengan metode ELISA. Data dianalisis secara univariat dan bivariat menggunakan uji korelasi Pearson dengan tingkat kemaknaan p<0,05. Hasil: Rerata usia responden adalah 15,97±1,03 tahun, dengan mayoritas termasuk remaja pertengahan (15 tahun). Hanya 8,3% subjek memiliki OHI‑S baik, sedangkan 66,7% berada pada kategori sedang dan 25% buruk, menunjukkan akumulasi plak dan kalkulus yang signifikan. Terdapat korelasi positif sedang dan bermakna antara skor OHI‑S dan kadar IL‑1β saliva (r=0,536; p=0,001), yang mengindikasikan bahwa semakin buruk kebersihan mulut, semakin tinggi aktivitas inflamasi gingiva yang tercermin dari peningkatan IL‑1β. Kesimpulan: Kebersihan mulut kategori sedang–buruk pada remaja dengan gingivitis berhubungan signifikan dengan peningkatan kadar IL‑1β saliva. IL‑1β saliva berpotensi sebagai biomarker inflamasi non‑invasif yang dapat dikombinasikan dengan OHI‑S untuk penilaian komprehensif status inflamasi gingiva serta perencanaan strategi pencegahan progresi penyakit periodontal pada populasi remaja.
