Abstract
Background; Hospitals are a service industry that is labour-intensive, expert-intensive, capital-intensive and technology-intensive so that the risk of Occupational Diseases and Work-related Accidents occurs. Combustible materials, medical gases, ionizing radiation and chemicals are potential hazards that have a risk of work accidents. Objectives; The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between nurses' attitudes and compliance with efforts to prevent and control fires at Hidayah Public Hospital. Method; This type of research is quantitative using a cross-sectional approach. The population of this study consisted of 32 nurses with a sample of 32 people who were taken using total sampling technique. Data analysis used univariate and bivariate analysis with the chi-square test statistic. Result; The results showed that attitude had a p value = 0.006 < α = 0.05 and obedience had a p value = 0.000 < α = 0.05. This means that attitude and compliance have a relationship with efforts to prevent and control fires. Conclusion; The conclusion of the study is that there is a relationship between attitude and compliance with efforts to prevent and control fires at Hidayah General Hospital, Deli Serdang Regency. It is recommended that the hospital provide education, training and socialize the existence of fire prevention infrastructure to all nurses, so that nurses have increased knowledge in carrying out fire prevention and control in hospitals.
