Abstract
Background; The lotus flower crown (Nelumbo nucifera Gaertn) is one of the plants used as an ingredient in traditional medicine by the community. The flower crown contains secondary metabolites, namely flavonoids, alkaloids and tannins. Flavonoid compounds that have anti-inflammatory activity. Objective; The study aimed to determine anti-inflammatory activity of lotus flower crowns ethanol extract on rats induced by carrageenan. Method; The research was experimental method. The samples were male white rats. The anti-inflammatory activity test was carried out on animals divided into 5 groups, each of which got 3 animals with the suspension test group of Lotus Flower Ethanol Extract (EEBS) with doses of 100, 150, 200mg/kg, the negative control group was the CMC Na 1% suspension and the positive control was diclofenac Na 2.25mg/kgBW. Observations were made for 6 hours. Data were analyzed using the one way analysis of variance (ANOVA) test. Results; The results of this study showed that the anti-inflammatory activity of EEBS at doses of 100, 150 and 200 mg/kgBW was significantly different from the negative control group CMC Na 1%, but not significantly different from the control group with positive sodium diclofenac 2.25mg/kgBW. Conclusion; The conclusion showed that the ethanol extract dose of Lotus flower crown (Nelumbo nucifera gaertn) that was the most effective in reducing anti-inflammatory in male white rats was the dosage of Lotus Flower Crown extract 200mg/kgBW.
