Abstract

Immunization is an early preventive measure that must be taken to protect children from various diseases such as measles or rubella. Immunization can also increase a child's immunity so that children do not get sick early. This study aimed to determine the factors that influence the participation of mothers with children aged nine months to 5 years for MR immunization (measles and rubella) in the working area of PB Selayang II Health Center in Medan City. An analytical survey does this quantitative method with a cross-sectional study approach. The population was all toddlers, as many as 6.685 people. The sample used a cluster random sampling system of as many as 99 toddlers. Data analysis used univariate, bivariate, and multivariate analysis. The result showed that there was a relationship between knowledge, attitudes, beliefs, family support, workers' support, and information media on the participation of mother who has children aged nine months to five years for MR immunization at the Health Center, while the most dominant factor was family support p = 0.000 < 0,05 and 95% CI = 5.389 – 316.539 with OR = 41.154. The conclusion shows that is an influence of knowledge, attitudes, beliefs, family support, workers' support, and information media on the participation of mothers with children aged nine months to five years for MR immunization at the working area of PB Selayang II Health Center, City Medan. It s suggested that the Health Center provide information in the form of counseling to the community, especially mothers who have children, to increase the coverage of MR immunization.
